Danzig - Tired of Being Alive
Danzig II has a few good tracks, but I think it’s not as good as Danzig I. This is probably one of my favorite songs off the record, cause, like most of Danzig’s song lyrics, is dumber than a box of hair. Plus, the whole evil Roy Orbison/Elvis thing works so good in the song too…
SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS
RIP: Poly Styrene (born Marianne Joan Elliott-Said), iconic frontwoman for pioneering punk rock band X-Ray Spex and acclaimed “archetype for the modern-day feminist punk,” passed away yesterday from breast cancer. She was 53.
From the singer’s official Twitter feed: “We can confirm that the beautiful Poly Styrene, who has been a true fighter, won her battle on Monday evening to go to higher places.”
Oh Death, up yours!
Total bummers.
HA! Coal-face! I love this dude’s work. It’s soooo good and reminds me of so many folks in my life…
Up the punx! I got this from here.
Apache Dropout! So last night I went to see my friends Nathan and Sonny play in their band APACHE DROPOUT. They’re really awesome garage rock from Bloomington Indiana. They’re coming off of a 6 week tour, playing in Columbus and Cleveland before opening for the VIVIAN GIRLS in Bloomington.
If you’re in the midwest, check them out. You can hear their debut record here.
Hey Brooklyn! Check out this show. Sunshine SS, Flies Around It and Passive Aggressor are some solid dudes. This is at Death By Audio over in Williamsburg.
So one of my good friends, Anthony Poynter, got diagnosed with some crazy cancer yesterday. Cancer is really fucking lame. I don’t understand how someone who’s straight-edge and vegan gets cancer?!? It blows my fucking mind.
Anyway.
There’s a comp that’s coming out to raise money for Anthony. Here’s a facebook link about it.
